Students undergo leadership training

Thirteen students from Hanuabada village in Port Moresby have stepped up to take leadership training with The Voice Inc (TVI).
The training was to learn skills for self-discovery and how to determine one’s life purpose
The young people undertook the Dream, TVI’s signature personal leadership programme.
It was facilitated by TVI young leaders and supported participants to understand their drive, purpose, experiences, relationships and capacity to influence and solve problems in their communities.
The programme was organised by Lucy Igo, an avid supporter of the Dream programme and its value in the lives of young people.
“These students have been waiting a long time to participate in this workshop,” she said.
“Some have waited for over a year.
“I am overwhelmed by what The Voice Inc did to prepare for this.
“They put a lot of personal touches in the materials.
“This contributed to the participants feeling valued.
“I am looking forward to seeing what the young people do after this to find their own purpose and become the next generation of leaders in Hanuabada village and beyond.”
Podi, a participant of the Dream programme said:“There’s a saying, ‘do unto others what you want them to do for you’.
“I read a scripture in the Bible, ‘what you sow, you will reap’.
“You guys have planted a seed in us, the outcome of the seed is us: if we put an effort in everything. I thank God for your time and you.”
The 13 students are in grades 9 to 12 and all live in Hanuabada.
