Students ungrateful

Letters

I, AS a concerned student of Busu Secondary School, want to share my thoughts of how some students of today behave.
Every year, parents and teachers, including the Education Department, spend a lot of time and resources to improve learning and change and mould the attitudes/mindsets of students.
Learning is key for every child brought into this world.
I feel for parents who struggle every day to meet the costs of bus fare, lunch money, stationery etc.
Expectations are high on you, as a child, to perform to the best of your ability – from 8am-4pm you are in class to learn new things to grow and learn to prepare you for the next stage in school and life.
Unfortunately, and in reality, all the struggles that parents go through are not appreciated.
Discipline is a major concern.
You would expect to see your child arriving home at the expected time.
Yet we see students in groups wondering around liquor shops in full uniform contributing their bus fare to buy cheap alcohol with mouths full of betel nut.
All this hard work and effort put in for students to ensure they get a good education should be repaid with respect.
