EAST Sepik education adviser Joseph Auli has encouraged business school graduates in Wewak not to look down on themselves.
Speaking at the 40th graduation of Skul Bilong Stuakipa at Talio Lodge last week, Auli told more than 80 graduates they were capable of earning a living with skills and knowledge acquired.
“Do not despise your humble beginnings because you have the potential to go out and make a difference.
“Maybe this paper (certificate) is the starting point in life, so you must start somewhere or go back home and till the soil in order to earn a living.”
Auli said the Education Department had acknowledged the training offered at the school under its TVET programme since last year because it had, over the years, played a vital role in imparting valuable skills and knowledge on retail store management to hundreds of students, some of whom had become successful business people.
Wewak joint district planning and budget priorities committee deputy chairman David Kausik said the committee was ready to help the school expand next year.
The students graduated with certificates in business studies, computing and trade skills.
