FOCUSING on new developments broadens the mind and achieves desired results, University of PNG students have been told.
National Gaming Control Board chief executive Imelda Agon said this to accounting students of UPNG during the annual Junior Accountancy Day programme on Tuesday.
Agon said the theme, Embracing new development in accounting profession, emphasised the importance of embracing new developments in their respective field of study.
She said change was inevitable as time passed by.
“There is always change whether it is economic, political or religious,” Agon said.
“Be the best financial adviser you can be.
“In real terms, accounting is making sure that you understand what the different industries in the country is all about.
Connect what you’ve learnt in the classroom to information technology, legal, psychology and other fields that the universities teach in the country and abroad.
“You are part and parcel of transitions our nation is going through, whether it be in infrastructure development, youth empowerment or community advocacy awareness.”
