FOREST Minister and Nawaeb MP Timothy Bonga told more than 300 graduating Grade 12 students at Lae Secondary School that the result of quality education was that students were prepared for a better future.
He said that their graduation was the beginning of a new chapter in their lives and they had to make the most of coming opportunities.
“You are at the beginning of entering the rat race now and I must thank those who played a very important part for you to be here at this graduation, I thank you, the parents,” he said.
School president Rueben Tangabi also encouraged students “to strive for the best” and “aim high”.
He said: “This is not the end but the beginning of a new chapter in your lives.”
Principal Christopher Raymond said the graduands were the last at the Lae Secondary  under the old education system as next year’s Grade 12s would be the first to graduate under the outcome-based education (OBE) banner.
