WHILE Grade 12 students around the country sit for their national written expression examinations today, students in Western Highlands have vowed a “no-nonsense” attitude towards it.
During a careers exposition last Friday at the Hagen Park Secondary School, Grade 12 students from the province’s seven secondary schools turned up in a sea of colours in their uniforms.
But that was not enough.
They want one colour for Western Highlands and will do so by scoring high marks to secure more spaces in tertiary institutions.
They aim to maintain the pace set by former students and rank again as one of the highest scoring provinces in the country.
The province held its one-day careers exposition last Friday to help Grade 12 students make informed choices.
Provincial guidance officer Ben Mallari said students in the province did “extremely well” last year and he was confident that would continue this year despite the elections disrupting classes.
That was reiterated by provincial education adviser Joe Yaga, who challenged the students to aim high and work hard to achieve their dreams.
“Competition is high but study hard and always aim to be the best and beat the rest because I know you can do it,” he said.
