Suburb road work starts
The National, Wednesday February 11th, 2015
RESIDENTS of Gerehu in Port Moresby will now have better roads – thanks to National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop and Moresby North-West MP Michael Malabag.
Parkop launched the Nigibata Road upgrading this week.
He said they wanted to give the area a facelift because Gerehu was the largest suburb in the capital city.
“We know we can’t change the suburb by building roads but we are building roads so that you can see the changes around you and change,” he said. He told the residents they must take ownership of the place as they lived there.
Malabag said the K12 million road upgrade would stretch from the Gerehu roundabout to the back road leading to Stage Six.
He said 27 roads in the electorate would be upgraded in Morata, Waigani, Hohola and Gerehu.
“I want to assure the people of Moresby North-West that all the roads will be fixed,” he said.
