Successful police operations keep city quiet

APART from a few disturbances, police reported a relatively quiet New Year in the National Capital District.
National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent Perou N’Dranou said there were reports of a fatal traffic accident, drink driving, drunk and disorderly, alcohol related fights, noise pollution and other daily incidents.
Apart from those, he said since the start of the NCD police operations for the Christmas and New Year three weeks ago, people had shown restraint as well as maturity in the way they behave.

At the Gigo/Laleki suburbs, Mobile squad vehicles, traffic and response unit vehicles were also stoned by youths when they were called in to quell a drunken brawl that was escalating.
Apart from these stoning incidences, Kimbe was very quiet during the New Year festivity period except for beer parties and the discharging of Asian-made firecrackers.
Manus police reported the death of a male youth who was stabbed allegedly by a Grade 12 male student last Friday in Lorengau town.
