SUNDAY school children in Busamang village in Huon Gulf district of Morobe were the happy recipients of funding assistance which enabled them to take part in the village’s Independence celebrations.
Local businessman Micah Kaneng, through his family company Mujambe Enterprise, contributed K1,000 and sponsored sports uniforms, equipment and trophies for the activities.
Village ward councilors Dick Busilim and Philemon Tomala also assisted in funding the activities which included traditional dance performances, canoe racing, tug-of-war.
There was also a three-day soccer tournament featuring seven teams each for the men’s and women’s competitions.
The most exciting event for this coastal village in Salamaua local level government area was the annual canoe race.
Kaneng said his family was happy to support the children as they are the future of the village.
