Sungi wants improvement
PUBLIC Service Minister Joe Sungi wants to improve the living standards of all public servants who are willing to serve in his Nuku district of West Sepik.
“My goal is to make housing compulsory for public service positions as a national policy starting with Nuku,” he said.
Sungi said the district was remote and he wanted to lure qualified people to take up public service positions there.
He was at the opening of two new houses for public servants at Nuku Station on Wednesday.
He also urged public servants around the country to perform.
Sungi said they should do their best in their assigned tasks.
He said the public service wages bill ate up half of the country’s K11 billion budget.
“Stringent measures will be taken on non-performing public servants,” Sungi said.
He said the people of Nuku expected more development projects and improved service delivery.
Two new fully-furnished five-room houses will be used by the district finance manager and the Nuku rural police commander.
