Superbug still infecting hospital
The National, Friday July 10th, 2015
THE mass resignation of doctors and other medical staff at the Goroka hospital confirms that the outstanding management and operation issues remain unresolved.
We understand that while the care-taker administration’s goal is to restore normalcy of hospital operations, it must also respect and adhere to the decision of the NEC which suspended the Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Authority CEO and board.
The physical presence of the suspended CEO within the work area and for her to give instructions to medical workers is an act of defiance.
The call for the medics to return to work through the media is the path of unprofessionalism in dialogue with a very professional people in the field.
It seems that a resistant superbug with capabilities to defy moral and legal orders has mutated from within the health authority and the care-taker administrator has succumbed to its venom.
