Support for displaced people
THE people of Noau, West New Britain, have been given a major boost by the provincial government with the donation of a boat and a truck.
The people had been living in care centres following the Mt Ulawun eruption last June.
Governor Francis Maneke accompanied by the regional MP and State Enterprises Minister Sasindran Muthuvel, provincial administrator Williamson Hosea and other dignitaries presented the people with a truck loaded with foodstuff and a dinghy with a 40-horsepower engine.
Maneke said funding for the truck and boat came from the Talasea log export development levy.
He said other infrastructures put in place in the Meramera area were from funds given by Prime Minister James Marape which were being used for the Mt Ulawun restoration programme.
Both Maneke and Muthuvel thanked Marape and the National Government for the support.
