Betelnut vendor Paul Kapi from Wabag was in for a surprise when he pulled a shark out of the sea instead of the usual catch of fish that he was accustomed to catching on a recent trip to Popondetta. Mr Kapi left Oro Bay at 3am last Friday for Lae when he spotted a group of fish. Casting his fishing line towards the school, Mr Kapi instead pulled in the shark, about a metre long. The fins were cut off as soon as he arrived in Lae to be sold separately. Pictured is Mr Kapi and his “crew” outside the The National office showing off their spoils of buai bags and their catch of the day. Friends had a whale of a time regaling the Highlands fisherman.
