Suspect remanded

A MAN charged with attempted murder was remanded by Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Tracy Ganaii last Friday.
Suruko Kenny, from Marawaka village in Obura-Wonenara, Eastern Highlands, was charged with one count of attempted murder committed against his father, Kenny Yarume, at 8-Mile’s 2nd Block in Port Moresby.
It was alleged that on Feb 2, between 1.30am and 2am, a drunk Suruko went to his father’s house and argued with him.
His father was armed with a bush knife during the argument and the pair tussled for it with Kenny taking the knife of his father and slashing his head.
Yarume, who lost a lot of blood, was taken to the hospital and treated but is in a serious condition.
A complaint was laid and Kenny was arrested and charged with one count of attempted murder.
The case was adjourned to March 20.
