SENIOR magistrate Pios Tapil has told two men, charged with armed robbery, to wait until the police investigations are complete to prove their innocence.
The duo are Davis Noan, from Lorengau’s Baluan village in Manus and Bernard Biromo from Yangoru’s Boim Sara village in East Sepik.
Noan tried to explain to a committal court in Lae that Biromo was innocent and was taken in by police by mistake.
However, Tapil said they would have their time to prove their innocence but, for now, they would have to wait for police to do their investigations.
“Both of you are facing serious charges.
“We will wait for the police to file their documents then you can (try to) prove your innocence in court.
“For now on it is a court process.
“So, we will adjourn the case to Sept 23,” he said, and remanded the duo who have to apply for bail in the National Court.
On June 10 at about 7pm, a taxi driver was allegedly held up by Noan and Biromo and others.
They tied up the driver and fled with the Toyota Harrier taxi.
On the following day, it was alleged that Noan and Biromo and others drove to and parked at the central court building along seventh street, Top Town, and waited for the three targets to came out of the ZRZ Trading.
They then allegedly, armed with a homemade stapler gun, held up the three and robbed them of K15,000 and K5,000 worth of Digicel flex cards.
One of the victims was shot and wounded during the robbery.
