Swearing becoming a norm in Madang

Letters

I SUPPORT Joseph Busi’s comment in The National regarding youths or elderly people swearing in public.
I just moved from the Highlands to work here in Madang for a year now and I have been living in one of the streets in the New Town area for a year now
It feels like I am living in a hell hole because there are some swearing words I hear from the drunk youths that I have never heard before.
Swearing of such magnitude is a true sign of a person who does not have self-confidence and is morally insane.
If you have a sister or a mother you will understand what I am saying.
In the Highlands, such swearing is an insult and it degrades a person’s value in his community.
I think it is probably a norm in Madang.

  • The use of insane language in some parts o our Momase and NGI regions is seen, felt and considered a norm. Where do we it ourselves as Christians?

  • It’s everywhere nor just Madang, it is really sad when you see and hear it from as small as a grade 1 kid saying like kkk without really knowing what’s being said.

Parenting has has it’s flaws, and it saddens me even more when girls join in
