Sweat, birds and God

Letters

The very first sin of mankind was disobedience. After humans fell victim to disobedience, the very first and true commandment of God was ‘sweat’.
Firstly, let me put it this way, I don’t know religion or biblical principles very well but I do know life.
Nowadays, we hear many Christians saying that “God will provide’’ or “Our time will come’’ or, “God provides for the Birds, and if God can provide for the birds then aren’t we worth more than the birds? Therefore, let’s not worry about tomorrow or what it will bring”.
This is where the ‘sweat’ aspect of life is overlooked. Yes, God provides for the birds, but there is no such thing as God bringing food to the bird’s nest (Nelson Mandela).
Sweat can be defined as moisture on the skin: the clear salty liquid that passes to the surface of the skin when somebody is hot or as a result of strenuous activity, fear, anxiety, or illness.
State of having sweat on skin: the production or secretion of sweat, e.g. during strenuous activity or illness, or a state of fear or anxiety that causes this (Microsoft® Encarta® 2008. © 1993-2007). In here, it is not about fear, anxiety, or illness. Instead, it is about the secretion of the clear salty liquid as a result of work, or strenuous activity or physical work.
It goes around in a cycle. We disobeyed God, God commanded us to work (sweat) to be productive on the land that was cursed. Yet, we are convinced that God will provide for the birds at their nests. As I’ve said, I don’t know religious principles or doctrines or whatever they are, so don’t ask me why.
Papua New Guinea is a Christian country and so I’m just saying that we should at least talk about the sweat aspect of life rather than the ‘God will provide’ mentality.
For a better future generation, for a better Papua New Guinea.
