Swim team off to Samoa

IN A small but significant gathering, Bank South Pacific (BSP) joined PNG Swimming Inc to farewell the Papua New Guinea swim team to the 8th Oceania Swimming Championships in Apia, Samoa.
BSP, as major sponsors, bade farewell to the team and wished them the best at the tournament.
The event will run from Monday to Saturday.
BSP chief executive officer Ian Clyne told the swimmers to strive and achieve the best for PNG. 
BSP has been sponsoring the PNG swim teams since the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and continues to be a major supporter of the sport.
The team departs for Samoa on Friday.
PNG Swimming Inc president Elizabeth Wells lauded BSP for its continued support towards PNG Swimming.
“The funding for the event has been provided by PNGSFOC and BSP which we are very thankful for,” she said.
The PNG team includes nine swimmers who are all members of the Aquatic Excellence Kundu target squad: Peter Pokawin, Danny Pryke, Jenixon Lim, Adam Ampa’oi, Ian Nakmai and Judith Meauri based in Port Moresby.
Ryan Pini and Anna Liza Mopio-Jane will join the team via Brisbane, Australia.
The event  is a qualifier for the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India, in October.
