TRAINING and membership renewal commences this week for swim clubs nationwide as athletes and coaches gear up for the season.

The first major competition for 2011 will be the national long course championships in Port Moresby at the Sir Donald Cleland Pool on  April 1-3.

This will be used to finalise the travelling team to the Arafura Games in Darwin in May.

Prior to this a coaching course is being organised for both learn to swim coaches and pool deck coaches.

BASC president Greg Runnegar said for those members residing in the NCD  membership renewals and new applications will be accepted at Cleland pool daily on Jan 17-21 from 4pm – 5pm.

“Registrations for Lae ASC will take place at Coronation Swimming Pool every Saturday at 9am. We will be advertising this on Tolec within the next couple of days.” Said outgoing president Matt Cooper.
