KIMBE Cutters have commended the efforts of Elijah Roltinga and Jah Hogan for their role in the side’s mid-season form.
Cutters manager Freddie Kumai told The National on Wednesday that the duo had made a big contribution to the side’s four wins from five games since round seven.
He said the team had shown a big improvement after a reshuffle by coach Lucas Samak.
“At the start of the season, Elijah was playing in the centres and second row while Jah wore the No.1 jersey,” Kumai said.
“After we recorded six straight losses from round one, the coach made changes and moved Elijah to fullback and Jah to five-eighth.
“Roltinga is not used to playing fullback in the Digicel Cup although he may have played in the position at the junior level.
“But he has been outstanding so far.
“Jah has played well and is more dangerous in the No.6 jersey, so I think the coach made the right changes.
“Our attack has been effective since the reshuffle, so we are looking forward to the remainder of the season.”
Kumai said another notable player was front-rower Muka Peter.
“Muka has made an impact in the forwards since his recruitment for this season,” he said.
“He is making big runs when we need him to do so. I am confident that he will continue to do his best in the role.”
Kumai said the involvement of local players had only made the side stronger this season following the club’s debut in 2019.
“When we selected players for this season, we imported less men and focused more on locals,” he said. “I think that has also contributed to our recent wins.
“Our few imports are combining well with the local players,” Kumai said this week.
