THE people of East New Britain celebrated Christmas peacefully without any major incident reported to the police.
East New Britain police commander Chief Inspector Joseph Tabali told The National that police station commanders (PSCs) reported no major incidents during the Christmas period.
Tabali said he was pleased with the people and hoped that they would celebrate peacefully indoor with their families during New Year .
He said even though there was no liquor ban in the province, the people behave very well and that was a good sign.
“I hope that the people under my command will do the same because I know that they are good people,” he said.
“Alcohol is the only cause of most of the problem.
“I want those who will be drinking and celebrating New Year, to do that indoor and should not disturb the public because the police are on full alert to arrest drunkards.”
Tabali said the police Christmas – New Year operation would still continue and would end on the first week of January.
