Taekwondo confident of backing

 STONES Taekwondo, the promoter of the Goroka Open — Challenge 1 to be staged in Goroka from April 11-12 — is confident that sponsors will come good. 

Promoter master Jamuga Stone and tournament director Jonathan Enoch would be approaching Eastern Highlands Governor Julie Soso and Goroka Open MP Bire Kimosopa for assistance with sponsorship.

They need about K100,000 to successfully stage the event. 

Centres confirmed to attend are Stones Taekwondo, National Capital District, Central, Yanguru and Lae taekwondo clubs. It is anticipated that a team from Sydney and Cairns, Australia, are coming. Martial arts clubs from Chimbu, Hela, Mendi, Jiwaka and Goroka have confirmed their participation.

The event is sanctioned by the Papua New Guinea Taekwondo Union Inc.
