STUDENTS from the IEA Tafe recently assisted two schools in Central by giving them books supplied by sponsors.
This semester, business administration students selected the major projects of establishing a library at Gunugau-Ginigolo Primary School and also supporting the World Environment Day at Kwikila Secondary School.
The students were able to get sponsorships from Buk Bilong Pikinini who supplied books and Deloitte PNG who provided K1,000 to assist a regional school which allowed the students to use the funding for Gunugau-Ginigolo Primary School.
IEA College of Tafe manager Chris Jones said: “Tafe students took the opportunity to work with businesses and the community.
“This ensures they graduate with qualifications that reflect the real-world expectations of employers.
“The Certificate 4 qualification, as with all IEA qualifications, is Australian equivalent and this requires completion of ten units of competency.”
The project allowed students to demonstrate the application of skills and knowledge in five of the ten units which include administering projects, preparing financial reports, organising meetings, organising business travel, and writing complex documents.
