Take note of warnings

Letters

THE Government should seriously look into the six criteria set out by the WHO before considering the resumption of classes.
The WHO director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom has warned countries who decide to lift restrictions to have their health facilities and equipment made readily available before allowing or lifting the ban.
School is a place where large number of students and teachers interact regularly from Monday to Friday.
If one child or teacher is infected, the whole school will eventually be infected.
Students will then spread it to families and communities would be affected.
Other vital government services can be allowed to resume their services however, schools should remain closed until further assessment and health facilities are improved.
The Government cannot risk the lives of young educated population in a rush to resume classes.
The Government can resort to other alternatives to help students continue to study at home.
Please consider and make good judgment for the future of this beautiful country of ours, Papua New Guinea.
