Talasea presents K9mil budget
Talasea district in West New Britain has presented a 2018 budget plan estimate of K9.66 million to the Treasury Department in Port Moresby.
MP Francis Maneke, accompanied by representatives from the seven local level governments, presented the budget to Treasury acting assistant secretary for provincial and LLGs Amos Ropkil.
Maneke said the cost of delivering goods and services to the rural areas are rising.
“Therefore, the government must consider sending administrative grants directly to the LLGs,” he said.
“And also increase them for each districts throughout the country.”
Maneke said LLGs in districts have been missing out on provincial grants.
Talasea district has a population of 200,000 and seven LLGs.
