Digicel PNG chief executive officer John Mangos has assured Papua New Guineans the Digicel Stars competition will continue this year.
Mangos revealed this during the official awarding of prizes to Digicel Stars 2 winner, Brian Kepi, yesterday at the Digicel head office in Port Moresby.
“The aim of the Digicel Stars competition is to foster local talent in the music industry and to give opportunities to individuals right across PNG to take up careers in the industry.
“We are looking to continue on this year and make it even better,” said Mangos.
He said about K800,000 was put into running the competition last year to make it bigger and better than the competition in 2010.
Kepi, the second runner-up, was available to receive his prize – K2,500 and a Samsung Galaxy Smartphone valued at K2,000 in Port Moresby.
First runner-up, Andrew Napolean, won K5,000 and a Samsung Galaxy Smartphone also valued at K2,000.
