Tamaraws have edge
The National, Tuesday September 24th, 2013
THE Papua New Guinea Men’s Basketball League enters its second round of playoff matches tonight with Tamaraws only needing one more win to mqke the final series.
They face a desparate Moresby West Jokers, whom they beat 83-81 on Sunday at the Sir John Guise Indoor complex.
Tamaraws escaped with an edge-of-your-seat two-point win over the Jokers in front of a good crowd
Tonight’s match promises to be no less intense as the youngsters fight to keep their finals hopes alive against the reigning champions
A win for Tamaraws will see them face arch-rivals Exodus. If the Jokers can pull out a win they take the series to a decider on Thursday.
Tamaraws’ big guns the Parapa brothers Charles (pictured) and Wally, the experienced Robert Kave and Richard Arava will be out to control the pace of this semi-final match while the Jokers’ Elavo’s in Harold and Joe and Soi Benny hold the key to a resurgence.
Both sides have players that have proven they worth throughout the season but tonight will see Jokers pack come under intense pressure in their do-or-die match.
The defending champions start as the favourites and have the big game experience which will serve them well particularly with keeping to a game plan in spite of the scoreboard.
