THE LNG project and the birth of the Hela province have resulted in a population boom in Tari.
The people have three basic needs and the first one is water supply for consumption and daily use.
People deserve to have access to a clean and constant supply of water to avoid lifestyle diseases such as dysentery.
Concerned stakeholders like project developers and the government should initiate a water supply project as priority.
Another need is for power supply.
Supplying electricity has a lot of advantages as it would create business opportunities arising in Hela.
The then Somare-Temu government allocated K11 million for electricity supply through the Hela Transitional Authority.
The chairman, James Marape, now finance minister, has bought a generator that is powering important institutions like the Tari General Hospital, police station, district offices and a few business houses.
The mini-hydro in Dauli has been idle for the past 20 years and should also be revived.
Finally, people living in Tagali, Tebi, Hayapuga and the remotest Pori LLG area need proper roads to send their produce to the markets.
The governor of Hela and members of each electorate should co-operate to deliver what is required for the people who supported them in the elections.
The people in each constituency cannot be maginalised again by being denied basic services.
It is unconstitutional forpoliticians who boast so much about national politics but fail to deliver the goods.
The people need you to perform at delivering these much-needed services.
