Tarum keeping Amean on team list

PORT Moresby Vipers coach Leonard Tarum says he will still include Papua New Guinea international Stargroth Amean in his team list for the Digicel Cup season with the hope that the Kumul gets vaccinated. Tarum told The National yesterday that the 2017 Queensland Intrust Super Cup premiership winner made his decision not to be vaccinated.
The Papua New Guinea National Rugby League Competition (PNGNRLC) recommended that all players and staff be vaccinated in order to participate. However, Tarum said Amean’s spot would be reserved in case he changed his mind.
“We really wanted Stargroth to be part of our team this year, given his wealth of experience and his class,” he said. “However, the people who are running the game (PNGNRLC) are bigger than us and whatever protocols they put in place is for the best interest of the sport and everyone, so we have to abide by those measures. “I understand that Stargroth has every right to choose and he made the decision for himself. “It’s unfortunate with the situation and challenges Covid-19 has brought upon our competition.”
