TWO men who escaped from Buimo jail last April are back in prison after being recaptured by Bumbu community task force members on Boxing Day.
They were caught after attacking seven community task force officers who were having tea at a home.
Bumbu community task force chairman Mark Aigal said the two men had a homemade gun, a bush knife and an iron rod and attacked the task force members, injuring two of them. The attack took place at Amoa Compound between 1-2am.
“One of them was caught at Wara Drum Junction and the other was caught the next morning at the China Town bus stop.”
Lae metropolitan commander Supt Iven Lakatani thanked the task force for recapturing the two men.
Both were from Amoa, in Morobe Patrol Post.
