Tatana investigators must hand in statements: Police
The National, Thursday February 12th, 2015
THE 13 police officers sent to Tatana village to investigate a murder case have been told to submit statements on how a villager died during their trip there.
Acting National Capital District Central Assistant Police Commissioner Jerry Frank said statements were obtained from the 13 officers who were initially sent to Tatana to investigate the killing of Harold Farapo, whose body was found floating near Tatana on January 10.
They went to Tatana on January 17.
Villager Sale Naime, who was allegedly a suspect in the murder of Farapo, was shot dead. Police arrested six other suspects.
Frank said the obtaining of statements by the officers was normal police procedure to find out who was responsible for the Naime’s death.
He said the 13 officers were not under arrest while investigations continued. Police had earlier claimed that Naime had drowned.
But his relatives claim he was still alive when he was taken by police.
NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Andy Bawa said that was part of normal police investigations.
