Tea firm gives K5,000 to cancer society

THE Port Moresby Cancer Relief Socie­ty received more than K5,000 from National No.1 Tea last Friday to support its work in the fight against cancer.
Society administration officer Ascenate Asi said that brought to more than K35,000 raised so far from the morning tea campaign.
The event is held annually in May.
The National No.1 Tea is the major sponsor this year.
Asi thanked National No.1 tea for its support.
She said the money raised would go towards:
l Buying essential medical supplies for cancer wards;
l Awareness materials, food for patient;
l Training of nurses; and
l Help in the operations of the cancer society.
She thanked other sponsors such as PNGFM, Stop N Shop and Bank South Pacific for their support.
Asi said more than 20 business organisations took part in this year’s fund-raising.
Sampath Padmawansa, a director with WR Carpenters, the parent company of National No.1 Tea, said they were pleased to support the society.
