Teacher confused over payroll issue

A MOTHER-of-three who is one of the 11,011 teachers taken off the payroll around the country is wondering what she did wrong.
She was posted this year to the Our Lady of Scared Heart Secondary School in Kokopo, ENB, from Buin Secondary School in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville. She was transferred with her husband, also a teacher.
The teacher, who requested not to be identified, said her husband received his pay last week but she didn’t.
“We followed every procedure required by the provincial education board for all transferred teachers. I don’t know why I was put off the payroll,” she said.
The teacher, who is one of more than 200 teachers in the province affected, said she filled all the forms required by the Education Department’s salary section and was officially released from AROB to teach in ENB.
She said, however, she would continue to go to school despite not being paid and she was committed to her duty as a teacher.
