Teacher in court for ‘touching’ student

 A TEACHER in Bougainville appeared in court on Monday charged with sexually touching a student.

Lawrence Tumai of Iula village in Buin, South Bougainville, appeared before the Buka District Court on Monday and has been remanded in custody to re-appear on May 24.

Buka district court magistrate Bruce Tasikul said Tumai was charged on April 26 at the Tarlena Secondary School for sexually touching the student.

Tasikul said Tumai had abused a position of trust and authority as the complainant’s teacher.
