Teacher wants division to communicate well with them

A teacher in East New Britain is calling on the education division to communicate information well to teachers so they appreciate what the division was doing.
Richard Kavang from Madang, is teaching at Sonoma Adventist Primary School, in East New Britain, and made this call when he was kept in the dark about his leave fare entitlements after he had applied for leave.
“Can information be made available in near future so that we can appreciate that transparency and accountability exist in the transfer of information?” he said.
“Until now we have no formal notice made by the education office in East New Britain to state to the teachers affected and what alternatives are made for us.”
“Even the officers responsible have not called us to make any announcement about our leave entitlements.
“It is very unprofessional when formal processes and procedures of communication have not been used by the provincial education office.”
Kavang said he had applied for his leave fares to travel to Madang before the closing date but was not formally informed about his entitlements.
“I had sent my formal application for processing as required prior to the official date of closure but was informally told by the officer responsible in the province that the funds needed were unavailable as funds from the Treasury Department have not been released.”
