MOROBE Technical High School principal Tebora Gorotu is appealing to the provincial government to look into incomplete teachers houses there.
Gorotu, who hails from Sappa village in the Morobe LLG of Huon district and has been teaching for 25 years, said the government provided enough money to build the houses and yet the contractors had not finished their job.
He said out of four staff houses, “one is complete while the other three are incomplete, affecting the attendance of teachers and consequently, students’ learning with teachers having to live outside the school”.
He claimed money meant for the erection of an L40 house had gone missing and no one seemed to know where it went.
Gorotu said the provincial government must follow up and clarify how much money had been allocated for the project.
He said the board of management, PNC and the people of Morobe LLG were calling on the contractor, who carried out the work, to return and complete the job.
Another problem being faced by the
school is a curriculum material shortage and food rations for boarding students.
The school faced a cash-flow problem because of the late payment of fees, he said.
