Teachers deserve our appreciation

I COMMEND all teachers who are serving or studying overseas, those who have retired and those who have passed on.
Teachers and the teaching profession in the country is the single largest employment opportunity for Papua New Guineans and their families.
There is one teacher in almost every family in PNG.
And when teachers come home for holidays, they put smiles on the face of their families as they bring with them goods, money and stories about places and people living in other parts of the country and the world.
Those of us who have been educated and hold positions of authority in government, private organisations, business and all walks of life would not have made it without our teachers.
Doctors, lawyers, sea and air pilots, engineers, accountants and any worker started their journey in life with a teacher.
Some teachers were harsh on students, others were kind.
But they all contributed to the wellbeing of every person in PNG.
Bravo teachers!
