THE 7000 teachers in Morobe are ready to take up their new postings this year after their list was released yesterday.
The provincial education board approved the teachers’ postings for this year last week, with the shifting of senior officers to newly established and rural schools. The five new schools registered last year also had teachers posted to them.
The new schools are Boana and Saonu Lutheran, Bunsil, Komba High and Kabwum Vocational Centre. They will start classes this year.
Malahang Technical and Kabwum High have been approved to secondary status this year, with an increase in the number of teachers posted there as well.
Kabwum High will enrol grade 11 intakes next year. Kabwum Secondary principal Oting Zuhukec said there was big movement of top administration managers.
“The movement of top school administrators was not seen in the past. But most are being moved out to give confidence to new schools. I feel it’s good. My challenges are that Kabwum is mountainous and it is very costly without proper transportation,” he said.
“Most mountain schools lack proper infrastructure development and it would be up to me to put up necessary infrastructure before taking in first grade 11 students.”
