Despite a lack of funding, it is commendable that teachers can revive their careers though in-service, Jiwaka education adviser Erwin Us says.
Us said during a week-long in-service workshop for the newly established Banz Lutheran High School that it promoted quality education for children.
Banz Lutheran High principal Joseph Tai said the staff in-service were planned and facilitated to retain and reskill teachers to improve their quality of teaching.
He said Lutheran High was a new school and they wanted to ensure that their children received the best education available.
Melanesian Nazarene Teachers’ College lecturer Julianne Tai, who co-facilitated the sessions, said in-service was vital but had died out over the years.
“Jiwaka province is embarking on reviving teachers in this week’s in-service. All secondary and high school teachers will commence their two-day provincial in-service,” she said.
