Teachers’ pay plea

Letters

I AM raising this overdue issue concerning the 3 per cent pay increments for teachers.
My father has been a teacher serving the Education Department for 22 years, especially in remote schools.
He never complained and has always been faithful to his noble job going into remote schools.
This is to touch the untouched and transform lives for many who see education as their least changes.
He always used his fortnightly wages for transportation and accommodation bills. With our first brother now attending one of the universities and other five siblings to look after, it’s a huge burden for my father. I am appealing to the national Government to please honour your commitment.
I beg all teachers to stage a nationwide protest during the Apec meeting to show other international leaders what is happening.
Teachers, it’s time you rise
up or you will continue to be downplayed by the Government’s sweet talk.
