Teachers resume duties for 2012

TEACHERS resumed duty yesterday – with National Capital District schools reporting a good attendance.
Secretary-bursar of Badihagwa Secondary School Marie Maito reported a good attendance by teachers there.
She said the teachers who turned up yesterday were filling out their resumption of duty summary sheets.
Marianville Secondary School teacher Terence Tuohik said all teachers had submitted their forms to the teacher in charge.
He said all schools in NCD were instructed to submit the teacher’s duty forms to the Payroll and Related Services branch before Feb 6 when the academic year for students starts.
Other schools that reported good attendance were Jubilee Secondary School and Port Moresby National High School.
Ted Diro Primary School head mistress Hane Charlie said a good number of teachers turned up at the school yesterday.
Attempts to get in touch with other primary and secondary schools in the city were unsuccessful.
Secretary of Education Dr Musawe Sinebare has advised all teachers to submit their duty sheets to the Payroll and Related Services branch before Feb 27.
Failure to do so will result in them not being paid after March 7.
Sinebare said no individual teacher would be served at the Payroll and Related Services branch.
He said those teachers who missed out because they failed to comply will submitting their resumption of duty forms had to seek help from provincial education advisers.
