HUNDREDS of teachers in Madang are still waiting for the provincial education authority to sort out their postings – more than two weeks after the start of the 2015 school year.

They are blaming the Madang provincial education board, particularly the appointing officer who has been absent from his office since January 26.

One of the affected primary school teachers who requested anonymity, said it was the base-level teachers who were mostly affected.

She said they wanted Madang provincial appointing officer Julius Ibona to be in his office to address their problem. It is understood that a good number of teachers in secondary schools and lecturers in Madang are still waiting for the education office to sort out the matter.

The teachers are yet to fill their duty resumption forms and fear they may not be paid.

Momase region Teachers Commissioner Joseph Ouyoumb said Ibona was on sick leave, which the education division was aware of.

Ouyoumb said not all teachers were affected but only the base-level teachers who were displaced due to certain administrative reasons.

“I have everything under control and by next Monday they should all have a school to teach in,” he said.
