Teachers suffer in silence

Letters

When will the teachers get their outdated promised 3 per cent pay increase?
PNG Teachers’ Association president Ugwalabu Mowana at last has had the stamina to stand up for the teachers and address this issue that has been pending for years.
Time and again teachers have been ill-treated by the very system that’s supposed to be looking after them.
The time is right for international communities and agencies to know how our teachers are being treated.
The Government and the Teaching Service Commission should sort out this percentage pay increase in a one-off payment.
It has dragged on for too long and teachers have to open their eyes to make sure this silliness stops here and now.
The children are always being used as guinea pigs to test unsuccessful education systems thrown at tgeachers by you know who.
The teachers are the very people who are supposed to be educating the future elites of this country with quality and advanced education are not being given the tools and the means to do their job well.
The teachers do not complain or take drastic actions to shine the light on their ill treatment, but continue to serve with humility.
They have not been getting the right salary package fortnightly inclusive of their entitlements –the 3% pay rise ¬– as promised.
Shame on the government.
Pay the teachers what is owed to them. It’s as simple as that
