Teachers told to upgrade skills

 TEACHERS must upgrade their skills, knowledge and qualifications to develop human resources, an academic says.

Atawe Asei, who graduated with a Master of Education at the Divine Word University earlier this year, told The National that “education is an art of design in desired future governed by policies”.

“The tuition fee free policy is one of the outstanding government policies but part of it must capture increasing capacity building for teachers,” he said.

“Teachers must be encouraged to get better trainings and acquire better skills, knowledge and qualifications.

“In my experience of more than 20 years with the education system, I have researched and seen that every education system is the same. There is never a better one. 

“But what is going to be the better one is what that is suitable, applicable and that can be accepted and become a norm of the nation, of the community and the society.

“We have gone through changes in our education system and some have gone for it, others didn’t.”
