Teachers undergo training

ELEMENTARY teachers in Wewak district are undergoing a two-week refresher course on the standards-based curriculum.
The training began on Monday at the Sepik Centre of Hope in Wewak.
Wewak MP Jim Simatab urged teachers to be role models for the children they teach.
“The children’s attitude starts with education because 75 per cent of their time is managed by teachers,” he said. “Therefore you must provide the right attitude and guidance so that the children who pass through your classrooms become responsible citizens in future.
“I use to see some teachers dress like they are going to the garden. This must stop because the kids will imitate you.
“The right attitude starts with a teacher in an elementary school to primary and secondary schools.”
He said the district under his leadership would complement their effort by providing an elementary kit each to all children.
