Team Blue lose first clash in TBL Kuriu volleyball
TEAM Black handed Team Blue their first loss of the Tanobada Botai Laurina (TBL) Kuriu Volleyball Association men’s premier division with a 2-1 win in the National Capital District on Saturday.
Black took an early lead in the first set (25-18) before a spirited comeback from the Blues in the second set (25-22) to see the match go down to the wire in the third.
Strong defence by Black denied their opponents with Blue shut out from points early, resulting in a strong offence by Black to win the rally set 25-20.
Despite the loss, Blue retained the top spot while second-placed Team Red beat Team Yellow 2-1 and third-placed Team White defeated Team Green with the same scoreline.
Meanwhile, Blue returned the favour in the women’s division with a 2-0 win over leaders Black to climb to the third spot.
Fourth-placed Yellow defeated Red 2-0 and White retained the second spot with a 2-1 win over Green.
Competition organisers said the weekend’s matches tipped off week one of the second round of matches.
There will be another five weeks of matches before the finals.
