Team PNG athletes set for Southern championships

THE Port Moresby Athletic Association have been busy this week putting the final touches to preparations for the PNG Air Southern Athletics Championships which will be held at the Sir John Guise Stadium this weekend.
Entries and results coordinator Monica Henao said yesterday that about 150 entries had been received from a seven teams as of yesterday morning.
Four officials will be flying into Port Moresby today, thanks to PNG Air.
They are photo-finish expert George Moramoro, from Rabaul, and three Goroka track and field officials.
They will be joined by a number of Port Moresby-based technical officials who had worked at the 2015 Pacific Games.
St Joseph’s International Catholic College teachers and students will be in attendance to support the technical officials in their work, with Josepha Wailoni coordinating the medal presentations.
Athletics Papua New Guinea and the Port Moresby Association thanked the PNG Sports Foundation for their assistance with the venue.
A number of the athletes who formed part of the successful team to the recent Pacific Games are expected to feature at the championships this weekend, including Adrine Monagi, Daniel Baul, Shadrick Tansi, Eldon Toti, Lakona Gerega, and relay squad members Manoka John, Thoa Ora and Terrence Talio.
Monica Korowi, 17, who won bronze in the 100m and 200m at the Oceania Under-18 Championships, will also be in action.
