Team PNG get K143,000

SOUTH Pacific Brewery presented a cheque for K143,000 to the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) as support for Team PNG in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
Brewery corporate affairs manager John Nilkare said during yesterday’s presentation that the sponsorship was to help the eight athletes who would be competing in the global showpiece event.
“We are proud to be associated with PNGOC,” he said.
“Our partnership goes back to the 1980s and we’ve always been involved with them in many aspects.
“We are happy to present this cheque to PNGOC and Team PNG.
“Three years ago, we signed a refreshed deal with PNGOC and this presentation concludes the three-year deal.
“Negotiations are ongoing for the renewal of these partnership going forward.
“We wish the eight athletes — four men and four women — well for the Olympics.
“They are going to make our country proud no matter what happens in the tournament.
“With Covid-19 affecting business houses, it’s a very difficult circumstance for the company, but we are very proud to support Team PNG.”
PNGOC president Sir John Dawanincura thanked the brewery for the continued support.
“PNGOC has been in partnership with the company for 38 years,” he said.
“We are happy that we have been able to maintain this relationship.
“On behalf PNGOC, I would like to thank SP Brewery for another sponsorship.”The travelling contingent for Team PNG is made up of 20 members, including 12 officials.
