Team PNG participate in activities at games

Sports

The Youth Olympic Games are not just about sports.
As the name suggests, the Youth Olympic Games is an event for young people aged from 15-18.
In addition to the games, top athletes will also have the opportunity to participate in a culture and education programme focussed on Olympism and Olympic values, skills development, well-being and healthy lifestyle, social responsibility and expression through digital media.
Throughout the games, youths are able to participate in a number of activities, including ‘Chat with Champions’ where athletes have the chance to speak with former Olympians, and share and learn from personal experiences.
The youths also participate in the ‘Athlete Accelerator’ where athletes are put through various physical tests and professionals are present to help them improve their techniques — this all happens in the Olympic Village and other venues.
Papua New Guinea breaststroke swimmer Leonard Kalate participated in the ‘Athlete 365’ to learn about anti-doping in sports.
Athletes were be able to take part in a quiz — available in 36 languages — which tested their knowledge of anti-doping in sports.
Participants also had the chance to speak to World Anti-Doping Agency representatives to learn more about doping in sports.
