Team SHP in seven sports for Games

TEAM Southern Highlands province, will participate in seven sports at this year’s PNG Games in Port Moresby in November.
The sports are rugby league nines, athletics, basketball, soccer, darts, rugby touch and kickboxing.
A working committee has been set up to oversee the team’s preparations.
The committee is headed by Robin Meleke, the deputy provincial administrator and assistant is Gegeno Fura from the provincial sports office while the secretary and public relations officer is Benson Iabo.
Francis Ank is the general team manager and the deputy team manager is Peter Buka. Team SHP paid their nomination fee of K6,000 to the host organising committee and is now working on athletes and officials listing before the deadline which is on Friday.
Ank is calling on business houses in the province and interested people to support the provincial contingent in cash or kind.
He added that the nine MPs from the province had pledged K10,000 each to kick start preparations.
Komo-Margarima MP Francis Potape was the first MP to assist with K1,000 last week.
